Key Areas:

| Houston Downtown (CBD) | Galleria | Texas Medical Center |
| Upper Kirby | Ship Channel | Deer Park | Clinton | University of Houston |

1 m resolution LiDAR (Light Detection And Ranging) data of Houston and the surrounding area was obtained through TerraPoint LLC, TX. This dataset comprises DEM (digital elevation model), DTM (digital terrain model) and building files; and were collected in November 2001. Another source of building polygons was Dr. Steven Burian of the University of Utah. This dataset was created by processing DEM (bare earth) and nonground dataset, and then comparing with the aerial photos of 1990.

3-D rendering of several areas of interest has been done using the DEM and building shapefiles are shown in the following slides.

Currently, the building shapefiles are being rectified for some key areas according to the HGAC 2001 half-meter resolution aerial photos. Finally, a number of reconnaissance surveys will be made for QA_QC purpose.

The rectified building dataset will be used shortly for 3-D air quality modeling of key urban areas.
