Chemical mechanism used in air quality modeling
Air pollution modeling
PROJECTS DESCRIPTION
Air quality modeling is needed for pollution forecasting and to better understand tropospheric ozone formation. In order to provide input into air quality models, such as CMAQ, emission inventory data need to be converted into formatted emission files. Inventory species are transformed into chemical mechanism species defined by an air quality model, as well as temporally and spatially distributed using the SMOKE preprocessor. Meteorological conditions are also taken into account. Then the model simulates chemical reactions, transport and dispersion.
